Leadership Seminole Class 19 Partners with the Rescue Outreach Mission in Sanford
After much deliberation, Leadership Seminole Class 19 has chosen their legacy: The Rescue Outreach Mission in Sanford. The class was drawn to the immediacy of the need to address the rapidly growing issue of homelessness in Seminole County and have undertaken a project to help the mission further their purpose of providing food, education, clothing and shelter for children and adults in need.

The class plans to build a playground for the Mission as well as refurbish an indoor play area and learning center. This will enable the Mission to create an entertaining, educational atmosphere, providing homeless children with a sense of normalcy while stimulating their intellect and creativity in a fun and safe environment.

We often disucss how unique each class'' collection of talents and gifts are, and how they can be put to use to build a legacy of leadership in the community. Class 19 is equally unique and they were able to bring a gift to the table that''s new to Legacy Projects. One class member came with a 10-year-running fundraising event and a commitment to grant the class project a percentage of the proceeds.

The 10th Anniversary Return To Respect event is an evening of dinner and comedy featuring commedians Chip Esten and Greg Proops from "Whose Line Is It Anyway?". The event, which will be held at Hard Rock Live at 6:00 p.m. on October 6, 2009, will raise funds for both the Rescue Outreach Mission, and SOAR, an organization that helps Central Florida women and children who have been victimized by violence. This is the first time an established event has agreed to grant funds to a Leadership Seminole class project and the potential is great.
